Teeth Whitening Costs

Teeth whitening has become a routine cosmetic dental procedure, and you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to over $2,000 for tooth bleaching. The exact price for the whitening will depend on the way the bleaching is performed, the duration of each procedure and how many treatments will you need to make your teeth whiter.

If you think that the price above is high, then you have the option to use several teeth whitening products and teeth whitening kits, available over the counter in most drug stores. The cost of these whitening products is anywhere between $15 and $50 per kit. Examples of at home whitening products are the Crest Whitestrips.

You can use Whitening Toothpastes, but these toothpastes remove only surface teeth stains, and you can do that almost with any toothpaste available on the market. The reason is that the yellow hue of your teeth is not on the surface of your teeth, but below into the dentin. If you want to whiten your teeth effectively at home then you need a hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening kit. One of the most common home teeth whitening procedures is using the whitening strips, which are very easy to use. Another way to bleach your teeth at home is to use whitening trays with bleaching gel, which is quite an effective way to whiten your smile.

There are many teeth whitening products and kits claiming to be able to make your teeth whiter and shinier, just for a few days. The problem with the at home teeth whitening products is that in general they have lower percent hydrogen peroxide, compared to the whitening products used by professional dentist, and this means that you have to apply them for prolonged periods of time to get a decent result.

Keep in mind that the typical dental insurance doesn’t cover teeth whitening costs and tooth bleaching is considered a cosmetic dental procedure.

At the end is up to you, to decide if you want a professional teeth whitening done in a dental office, or you would prefer to save some money and get whiter teeth at home. And I almost forgot that you have another option - not to bleach your teeth at all, which is cheap by any means :).
